LitPick Review
A lovely picture book filled to the brim with important messages. ‘Bigfoot and Nessie : The Art of Getting Noticed’ features the unlikely friendship developed between Bigfoot, a monster who is desperate to be in the spotlight, and Nessie, who is running away from the same. Amidst a much needed break, Nessie takes Bigfoot on a fun journey fueled by creativity and selflessness that involves discovering his true identity and passion. The door to a vast world that is ready to celebrate his potential has always been there, he only needed a soul like Nessie to hand him the key.
Opinion:
This vibrant book contains lessons that can be derived by juvenile as well as adult readers. First and foremost, it’s story allows the readers to realize the importance of discovering what they truly enjoy instead of going for what people expect them to enjoy. It can also inspire one to overcome the fear associated with getting started and embrace what lies ahead, which is important since such fear is often the greatest barrier in the way of approaching one’s passion. Another amazing lesson that it imparts is that even if the world hankers after a certain thing, it does not necessarily mean the object guarantees happiness and fulfillment. At last but not the least, the book leaves a crucial message for parents and caregivers that children require constant love and support from their families and loved ones to maintain high self-esteem.
The range of colors that has been used in the book is quite likely to capture the attention of the readers it is aimed at. The main characters, namely Bigfoot and Nessie, look simply adorable, and are capable of eliciting affection. Besides, throughout the pages, the facial and bodily expressions of the characters go perfectly with the concerned situation. Another amazing thing is the way the illustrator tried to portray diversity among the people although they were not the center of attention in the book. In a nutshell, the illustrations in the book are just as marvelous as the text.
The story is short, fast-paced, and smooth, which makes it an ideal choice for children who are reluctant to read. The language is simple yet catchy and therefore suitable for young readers. Besides, the work is not only creative and unique itself but also an advocate of art, passion, and novelty.
Highly recommended for children of the age-group 6-8 but it can be enjoyed by older and younger readers as well. It is undoubtedly a great pick for anyone, especially the children who love to read in the company of their caregivers.
