LitPick Review
Kyle and his best friend Mike have a big dream. They want to play college football together. But that all changes when Mike takes a big hit in a game. He starts acting strange, and finally confesses to Kyle he has a concussion. But then the state comes out with high school concussion tests. If Mike doesn't pass, he won't play. If he can't play, he can't get a football scholarship. That would crush their dreams. But Kyle figures out how to beat the tests. Mike keeps playing, but his confusion gets him taken from the starting lineup anyway. Mike's symptoms slowly get worse. Should Kyle kill Mike's chances of playing college ball by telling coach, or let him play and possibly destroy his chances of playing anyway and injure his brain majorly?
Opinion:
This book's concept and ideas are a great way to tell about major football injuries and how they affect players. The overall detail wasn't that great, and the book would have been better if it was longer and talked about certain moments longer. For example, he could have explained the actual football games more in depth, and made them more interesting. The analysis of the brain injury, how major it was, and how it devolped as it got worse was well written. It is a pretty good quick read because it is a shorter book, but isn't the best for more advanced readers.
