It’s a sunny day and Orbit is on a mission to spread kindness. He decides to visit a kindergarten class and have the children help him spread kindness all around. The children are so excited to see Orbit! He asks them what kindness means to each one of them. One child offers that kindness is a form of love. Another says that when you do a kind thing, you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Orbit loves all of the answers.
He then asks if the children can tell him where they have seen kindness in their lives. One child says that he sees it when his grandmother watches him for the night when his parents have plans. Another child offers that when you see someone by themselves, offer them to play a game with you so they aren’t lonely anymore. Orbit is so happy that the children know what kindness is and how to spread it all around them!
Opinion:
The first thing I want to mention is that there is a “Kindness is the Way” page in the front of the book, which offers words to The Power of Kindness song created by the author. You can visit the author’s website to find the song and use the page to sing along to the tune.
This is another book in The Power of series that Ms. Maille has outdone herself yet again in educating children on the concept of what kindness is and how they can each spread kindness to others around them. The story is a fun way to teach younger children that in order to receive kindness from others, you must give kindness as well. I feel that teaching children at a young age something as important as this message is the perfect way to educate them on how each person can truly make a difference in spreading kindness all around. One little kind action can return tenfold to you. This is a wonderful lesson for readers of all ages to learn from.
The illustrations provided by Pardeep Mehra, the founder of Pencil Master Studio, were vibrantly colored and eye-catching. They were found on every page and were set as full-paged illustrations, which beautifully told the author’s written word in picture format. For more than fifteen years, Mr. Mehra has been creating hundreds of illustrated books for children to enjoy around the world.
Ruth Maille is a relationship coach and has also owned and operated a daycare/preschool for 30+ years. She has received multiple awards for her writing. Her passion for writing comes from years of reading children’s books in both her personal and professional life.
One additional note that is worth mentioning is this book was inspired by a group of children in her daycare/preschool. One day, she asked the children where they felt kindness in their lives. Through their examples offered, she used them as inspiration to write this children’s book.
Overall, The Power of Kindness Through the Eyes of Children is another wonderful addition to The Power of series for readers of all ages to enjoy. The lesson on kindness is heartwarming, the characters are adorable, and the illustrations are such a pleasure to look at.
