LitPick Review
Grab your spacesuit! At fifteen-years old, Michael May and Buddy Russell are about to make history as the first children to set foot on the moon. As part of the crew to the International Space Station, their mission is to research plants, bone density, and respiratory illnesses. But two hours before launch, a new mission is revealed, a mission in which Michael and Buddy play integral roles with research that could potentially save millions of lives across the world . . . and perhaps be very lucrative. Suddenly, their mission is plagued by mysterious mishaps. Someone is trying to sabotage the crew’s mission. Could greed be the motive behind these strange events or is something more sinister at play?
Opinion:
May’s Moon: Fortis Mission blasts the reader into a universe of possibilities. Author S. Y. Palmer’s vivid descriptions allow readers a glimpse inside the International Space Station. Protagonists Michael and Buddy are set to inspire the next generation of space enthusiasts with their bravery and determination. Readers who have faced cutthroat competition will easily relate to Michael and Buddy's struggles. The book is written from a British vantage; however, the dialogue and actions of American character Buddy could have been more authentic. Additionally, there are a considerable number of plot holes that may be distracting for some readers, but overall, May’s Moon: Fortis Mission is an action-packed read. If you cannot get enough, this is the second book of a trilogy.
