LitPick Review
Magic in Windowland is a creative story about a doodle named Pip who magically comes to life in a windowsill. He was accidently given magical powers from a creature outside, and Pip begins to turn other doodles to life. He finds a doodle of a superhero, and they soon go on an adventure together in another windowsill. They encounter an explorer, a dragon, and a treasure chest. Together, they enjoy the excitement of being alive by eliminating the dragon. Pip and his new friends are excited to go on other adventures by the end of the book.
Opinion:
Magic in Windowland is a creative story that thinks outside the box. The story helps little ones look at the world through creative eyes. This picture book is a great story to help kids get excited about using their imaginations. The story is similar to The Chronicles of Narnia, but in a simpler form. The illustrations are a good fit for the story. I liked how the colors were portrayed as blue or grey to depict a setting in a windowsill. The illustrations support the text well. For example, when the window was 'fogged," the author changed the text to a larger font with a foggy design around the text. I think the lesson is to teach little ones how much fun you can have using your imagination. The ending was left on a cliffhanger which gives the option for another book. There were a couple of grammatical errors, but the story is a great choice for little ones.
