If you could see something in the future would you be more careful with the present? For 16-year-old Arnetta, having a family is the one thing she wants the most. It's 1985, and living with her grandparents in a small, southern textile mill town in South Carolina gives her protection and security, but something is missing. A chance encounter with an antique store owner pokes a hole in Arnetta's otherwise mundane life, causing a ripple effect which has the potential to change not only her life, but maybe yours as well. It all starts with a mirror that allows her to see a future event. Arnetta and the Mirror of Destiny is the journey of a teenager who learns that knowing certain things can be beautiful, but also heartbreaking, dangerous or deadly.

Arnetta is a teenager who lives with her grandparents. When Arnetta is walking back to her grandparents' house during a thunderstorm, she stops at an antique store where she meets Little Man who shows her an ancient mirror. Arnetta picks up the mirror and gazes into it. She sees a car hit the parking meter outside, and a teenager with long black hair comes out of the car. But when she turns around to look out the window, there’s no one there.

Arnetta Price has had a fractured family since a horrible accident claimed the lives of her parents, younger brother, and one set of grandparents, sending her to live with her other grandparents, Grammy and Papaw. If only she could have prevented the accident.

Even though her family died when she was young, Arnetta tries to maintain an upbeat facade in school and around her crush, Craig. But one rainy day, everything changes. Arnetta wanders into a store full of antiques and notices a particularly elegant mirror.
