LaLa wakes up in a mood. A bad mood. She doesn’t know why, and she doesn’t care. Mom doesn’t let LaLa’s bad mood take her down. Instead, she seems cheerful, but why? Will Mom’s advice change LaLa’s day from horrible to wonderful?

Opinion:

LaLa Feels Blah-La is a book about changing your day from bad to good. I like Mom’s philosophy about staying positive, but this trick takes lots of practice and can't be mastered the first time. I also don’t like the example of thinking about tails on a coin changing into heads, or negative feelings changing into positive feelings. This is not realistic. It takes time to get out of a bad mood. The illustrations by Goran Vitanovic are wonderful and compliment the story beautifully. There is an attempt to add humor when Mom asks LaLa if she is blue. Overall, the book is a great story about staying positive but does not provide many real life examples. Tela Kanye has done a great job using understandable language, making Lala Feels Blah-La a wonderful book for ages 5-9.
