It’s the year 1861. Joe Wood is a fourteen-year-old in the village of Wiscasset, Maine. With his big dreams of becoming a newspaperman, he has started writing his own newspaper, the Wiscasset Herald, by borrowing sixty-five dollars from Mr. Shuttersworth. With the help of his assistant Owen, Joe tries to raise the sixty-dollars he owes him. But with the Revolutionary War just around the corner and Owen struggling with being made fun of for being black in a white community, he doesn’t know if he’ll be able to save his newspaper business.

Gypsy Legends: A Quest For Peace is about a girl named Clara and a boy called Luke. They both have special magical abilities, and Luke is a Gypsy. It is near Christmas, and Luke’s clan is on the move because the Gypsy Council has called a meeting for all the different Gypsy clans. The clan is almost there when they are ambushed and the Gypsy Council members taken hostage. Luke runs away, because someone is trying to kidnap him too. Clara, unaware of this danger that has befallen her friend, finds him in the woods behind her house in bad shape.

The Best Family Ever is about the Baxter Family: Mom, Dad, Brooke, Kari, Ashley, Erin, and Luke. The book is written from the viewpoint of Kari and Ashley. Both girls are in middle school and share the details of their family life from their perspective. The family is a God-fearing family that tries to live a good life and serve each other and others. However, this isn't always - with things like Ashley being jealous of her sister Brooke, who seems too perfect to her, and her younger sister Erin, which causes sibling rivalry.

Dealing in Dreams is set in a future metropolis where gender roles have been reversed and men are not allowed power over anyone. The dream shared by most is to live in the towers where only the elite are allowed. There are two main ways to get acceptance into the towers. One is to have a strong presence in the arts community and be noticed by the leader, Deesse. The other way is the most common; it involves getting noticed by Deesse for being in a gang. Young girls are forced into training camps where they are taught to fight.

The First Principle is a charming story about a teenage girl whose life is about to get flipped upside down. After one of Vivica's classmates is forcibly removed from a study hall by Population Management for her mandatory abortion after being found pregnant, Vivica speaks up. Little does she know that she is planting seeds of rebellion in her own life with those very actions. Only days after this she finds out that she herself is pregnant by her ex. Now she must save the child's life and the only people who can help her are the rebels.

Joey Kinkaid is the princess of Baker Street, and Eric Sinclair is the prince. They have been close friends since they were little, and now the terrors and troubles of middle school are tearing them apart. Joey does not make an easy friend; he comes to school dressed in the fashion of most girls with leggings, lip gloss, and a pink silk scarf. Eric, troubled by his lack of parenting and guidance at home, forces himself under the radar despite his wishes to help Joey so that no one finds out he lives alone.

In Gularian Islands by Tracey C. Ayres, a teenager named Ben and his best mate, Gary, go on a plane trip back home to Australia from America. As the plane is flying over the Atlantic Ocean, it suddenly begins to lose altitude, forcing everyone to abort the vessel.
