Every Day After is a very good book about a girl named Lizzie. Her dad left when she was 9 or 10 years old. Not long after he left, her mom got sick and stopped talking. Lizzie did not want anyone to know about her mom because she feared if they found out she would be taken to an orphanage, so she hid her Mom. Lizzie then runs into struggle after struggle including Erin a bully, a letter from the bank that says money is needed or the house will be lost, and losing a best friend. Lizzie found a job at Mr. and Mrs. Hinkle’s store and things started looking up.
Earth Girl takes place in the year 2789 where "portaling" between planets is a part of daily life for the people whose bodies can handle it. People who are unable to travel to other worlds and have to live on Earth are considered handicapped and are occasionally treated poorly by those who can use portals.
