In the book Summer of Hope, Jodie Andrefski tells how Callie overcomes her twin brother Jamie's death. This romance story is set in present day and starts out when sixteen-year-old Callie, her mom, and dad go to their vacation home. Callie starts hanging out with the new neighbor a lot. When she tells her parents that she is sleeping, instead she sneaks out and sees her new friends and gets drunk. Then she tells her parents what actually happened and she is under a tight line (as in she has to be watched more closely).

When Ethan finally opens up to her and tells her the news about himself, she is a little mad but mostly worried, and she freaks out. Read the book to discover what happens to Callie and Ethan.

Opinion:

I would highly recommend the book Summer of Hope. I really enjoyed this book because I liked how there were some twists. I also liked how after you read one chapter you felt like you had to read the next one right away. For example, in the book Callie does something unexpected that I definitely didn’t see coming. Another reason I liked it was because I liked the romance.

One thing that I didn’t like about the book was the ending. Although without the ending that it had, it probably wouldn’t be as good. Secondly, the book had some foul language that wasn’t my favorite. For example, it says, “Damn it. I kicked a loose rock on the sidewalk and turned to walk back the way I came.”

I would rate Summer of Hope 5 out of 5 stars and encourage readers between the ages of 11-15 to check out this amazing book.

There was some mature content because there was some bad language. There was also some drinking.
