Stark Reality by David Poulos is an adventure story about a secret team designated to locate and bring back an arms trafficker without raising suspicion after he was discovered missing. Micheal Stark, a former CIA representative, receives a task to uncover the mystery behind the abduction of an international weapon trafficker, Georgi Papadopoulos, who is identified as Big G. He is to accomplish the mission with his squad in discreet order. As they started their investigation, they had to keep in mind that they were working as private contractors. With each team member required to carry out a specific task, they work jointly despite the risks that lie ahead with their one objective, which is to rescue Big G. Would they prevail?

Opinion:

The plot is creative with realistic descriptions of locations chosen for the story and likewise that of the characters. The book is relatively fast-paced, with each chapter becoming more intense as I neared the conclusion. It involves the mystery pertaining to Georgi's disappearance and the adventures the team experienced during the period of searching for him. The structure of the story is action-filled with a bit of violence which occurred in some scenes. The characters were well-introduced in the book starting with their names, their capabilities, and backgrounds. They made an impact in the book through their individual intelligence and techniques used towards achieving their operation. I admire the way the team members contributed to the mission with their levels of expertise and how they complied with and worked together as a team. Within the 349 pages of the novel, I noted the diverse locations utilized in the book. Places like Athens, Greece, where the investigation concerning Big G's whereabouts kick-started, and others like the Mediterranean Sea added to the book's mystery and adventures and took me on an exploration to these places as I immersed myself in the story.
