Seeds of Leadership by Will Lukang is a non-fiction motivational business management and leadership book that would appeal most to a mixed audience of young adults and adults who either work in a leadership role or who aspire to. The book provides a framework for how to learn and develop the skills a person needs to be a leader in a field. In addition to providing a map, the book also offers personal insights, examples, and stories from the author’s own real-life experiences. The author covers a variety of topics that can also prove useful to people in leadership and non-leadership roles such as networking, team dynamics, workplace culture, and communication. Are you ready to follow the map of effective leadership to become or improve yourself as a leader?

Opinion:

Seeds of Leadership by Will Lukang was a well-written book that I found to be a valuable workplace resource. The book was organized into 19 chapters that offered insight into different leadership topics like setting priorities, becoming an active learner, and moving forward after setback. I liked not only the way the chapters flowed together, but how each had their own topic focus.

I liked the way the author didn’t focus on just extroverts but also provided advice for introverts that played to their strengths. For example, when the author wrote about networking, he mentioned how introverts can play to their strengths by listening and then asking insightful questions. I found this to be valuable and useful advice for people like me who prefer listening over doing an elevator style pitch.

The author did an amazing job in making the book easy and interesting to read with how he avoided any jargon and included personal stories to keep things interesting and to highlight his points with real life examples. I found one quote from the author really stuck with me: "good leaders are not born; they are created through a combination of learned skills and experience on the job." This quote really resonated with me in how it showed I didn't need to instantly be a good leader but could instead learn to become one. I also liked the inclusion of visual elements in the book like the pyramid of leadership image, which helped me to further understand leadership with how it demonstrated that a foundation of learning and understanding is needed before one can apply and lead effectively.  Overall, I found this book to be an informational, educational, and inspiring read that I would recommend to anyone planning to enter a workplace environment.
