“Mark, Don’t be alarmed. The discrepancy will be cleared up soon. Tom”  It all started with a single email. The Reluctant Reckoner by J. Lee is about Mark Richter getting suddenly thrown into a world of blackmail, terrorists, and the FBI. Mark, a single father, would do anything to protect his daughter, but how can he do that when he is rendered helpless against forces he can’t seem to understand. The organization that wants Mark’s expertise keeps dropping bodies left and right, with no actual bodies to be found. Will Mark be able to get the files that the organization wants without forfeiting his life?

Opinion:

The Reluctant Reckoner by J. Lee is a wonderful book that is full of plot twists. It is action-packed and full of mystery with masterfully crafted reveals. J. Lee takes Mark Richer, an ordinary guy, and makes him into an extraordinary guy. J. Lee highlights that the bad guy can be the one who is supposed to help you or your friend, someone you would never suspect. J. Lee also has representation for one parent families, and he highlights the desperation from both Caroline and Mark to make sure their children stayed out of the mess. Overall, I would recommend this book to mystery readers and the fans of thrillers.
