Odysseus’ journey to his home is a journey of sadness and adventure. Odysseus and his men fought in the Trojan War for ten years and start to make their way home. He encounters many hardships like the Cyclops and the enchantress Circe. He has to make a death defying journey into the underworld to try to escape Poseidon’s curse. Will Odysseus make the journey home safely, or will he forever wander around sailing on the seas? You have to read this epic tale to find out!

Opinion:

The Odyssey is a classic adventure story. It has action, mystery, and suspense all rolled into one. An example of action and suspense is on page 112, “When he reached the surface, he found the wild storm still raging. Great waves crashed into him, and savage winds battered his face. It was impossible to stay alive for more than a few minutes in such a sea”. This retelling of the tale is a nice one, especially with all the neat artwork in it. I recommend this book to readers ages 12 and up.
