Midnight Alley is the third book in the Morganville Vampires series, which follows the lives of sixteen-year- old Claire Danvers and her friends in Morganville, Texas. Morganville isn't just any college town, though; it's run by vampires. Luckily for her, Claire isn't just any sixteen- year-old genius; she's brave and resourceful enough to stay alive in Morganville, which can be tricky. Now, Claire has signed her loyalty (and basically her life) away to Amelie, the most powerful vamp in town. This so-called Protection, however, may not be as reassuring as it sounds. Dead girls are turning up in Claire's backyard, and she's being forced to take lessons with a mentally unstable vampire who may well eat her.

Opinion:

Midnight Alley is just as wonderful as the first two books in the series! It's a fast-paced, page-turning read packed with wonderful characters and surprising plot twists. Rachel Caine is an engagin writer; readers will be completely absorbed in this chilling story, unable to put it down until the last page...and then eagerly awaiting book number four! The premise of the Morganville novels is great, and Rachel Caine is able to really make the commonly told legend of vampires her own in this book. For fans of vampire books, this is one that shouldn't be missed!

Explain your content rating:

This is too scary and violent a story for younger kids, with a few references to other issues for more mature readers, though nothing is too graphic.
