Have you ever experienced moving out of the only place you think you will find comfort and friends? If yes, then you are just like Sam. Why don't you dive into this story as we experience her life after this? Ever The Same, written by Michelle Wishner, is about a young adult named Sam. Recently, her father got a promotion at work that required his family to move. It was quite shocking to Sam as she was already in her final year of high school. Not only that, but she would also have to leave her best friend Becky, and all the memories of what they had planned to do were going to waste. Still saddened by this action, she realizes that she can't do anything to change the situation, not even a suggestion to drive to and from to her old school each day. At her new school, she met someone named Conner, who looked strikingly handsome. They both felt a spark that couldn't be explained, but they were sure they were meant to be. But things weren't to go smoothly for them as Sam found out Conner already has a girlfriend. What would she do? Does it end here?

Opinion:

Ever the Same centers on friendship, family relationship, and love. The plot is realistic as it relates to the modern world.  The thought of moving away from a place you are used to and starting all over again brings about pain, and that was what Sam experienced. It was hard for her, but nothing could be done. Earlier on, I mentioned friendship, family relationship, and love as what the book focuses on, and I will state the reasons why it made the plot even more interesting. First, Sam lost her closeness to her best friend Becky as she moved away, but that didn't stop there. Even though she was still angry at her parents, she ended up making quite a good number of friends while maintaining her BFF status with Becky. Second, Sam's relationship with her family, especially with her mother, started off well, but after the relocation, she seemed to withdraw herself from talking too much and also trying to avoid her mom's questions in most cases. Lastly, falling in love is something that happens most times out of the blue. First off, Sam felt a spark with Conner that said they were meant to be, but when she realized he had a girlfriend, she felt devastated but pushed the thought away by going out with Jake. The book is a captivating one, and the characters were all outstanding, especially Sam and her new friends who stood by her side and made her feel welcomed. Becky was also a good friend as she showed she still cares by visiting Sam in her new house despite the distance.
