In the third book of The Council Trilogy, we follow Olivia into even deeper waters. Asked to take part of a new presidential campaign, she, her vampire lovers, and Others' friends find more than they bargained for. This book is filled with battle after battle to beat the dark before it overtakes the light. Once Olivia reconnects with her heritage and long lost family, her powers grow and she moves to become the witch that she was destined to be. Follow along to see how Olivia struggles in her journey but grows to be who she was meant to be.

Opinion:

I really enjoyed this final book in The Council Trilogy. I love all of the characters and their different personalities and getting to see how they all mesh together. I especially loved the progression of Olivia and Josef's relationship. Getting to see Josef evolve a bit more and seeing the softer sides of him was truly a pleasure. It was a special addition at the end, getting to see him reconnect with his past in a positive way to help him gain some closure. It was also lovely to see Elsa reach her full happy ending, after all of the trauma she had endured in her life. Having all of our characters reach happy endings was really satisfying after all of the battles they fought and won.

The speed of the book was a little fast, but much to be expected when you're constantly in fight mode with all that was happening around them. I thought that it's a very timely book, politically, and honestly makes me question what other powers may be in our own background of real life controlling who is in charge. It was extremely realistic, especially the Preacher/demon, causing so much destruction in the name of "faith".

There were really only two things that bothered me but not enough to adjust my rating. I wished we'd learned more about why Gabriel, Olivia's recently discovered father, was getting weaker. It was a lot of foreshadowing without the clarity of what was happening. And then before the final battle, Olivia is warned when she confronted Stoner to look out for whatever magical amulet or something of the like that he is harnessing his power through and to destroy it.  But then that wasn't ever addressed, at least that I saw. I kept waiting for Stoner to reappear because of Olivia and her chosen sisters forgetting that detail with everything else going on around them.

Overall though, this book was a great ending where I felt it was a completed series. Even with the taste of what may come next, I didn't feel like I was left needing more for Olivia's story, which I greatly appreciated. I got closure to her story.
