Kindness for Weakness tells the story of a young boy who is trying to become a man. He has an abusive life at home, but escapes through books and talking with his favorite teacher over cold root beers. He has always looked up to his dismissive older brother, and is trying to be like him, but his plans go awry and he ends up being sent to a juvenile detention center. Throughout his journey, he learns about strength, weakness, family, and what it truly means to be a man with the help of many other intriguing and diverse characters. The author called attention to important questions about our society, and put light on a way of life that many of us are not familiar with.

Opinion:

This book kept me interested, both with the action and the amazing character development. There were some overdramatized points, but they were used well to add to the excitement of the storyline. This is not the style of book I usually read, but I did enjoy it and it got me interested in similar books and authors. Overall, this book was very good and will keep you thinking long after you've read the final page.
