Robyn should be having the time of her life. She has a great summer job, and it's just a boat ride away from her friend Morgan's lakeside house. But she misses her boyfriend, Nick. Suddenly Nick appears in town—on a dangerous mission. He promised a friend he'd investigate a local suicide. Did Alex Richmond drown himself? Or was he killed because he knew too much? Robyn intends to find out—whether or not Nick wants her help.

Robyn and her best friend Morgan were supposed to work as counselors at a summer camp, along with Morgan's boyfriend Billy, as a life gaurd, until Morgan breaks her leg. Robyn doesn't want to go without Morgan, but Morgan finally talks her into it. It's a great plan until the camp burns down. So Robyn then decides she's going to spend the summer with her boyfriend Nick, but he says he's going on a camping trip with friends. Nick lives alone in the apartment building Robyn's dad owns.

Casey has finally started to fit in with the rich and sophisticated at Meadowlark Academy. Her fashion sense is improving, she's hanging out with Madison, Sophie and Phoebe, and Drew might be her kinda-sorta boyfriend. Even though Casey's retaining her small town roots, she feels like she might be giving up herself to be more like the other girls. And she's not sure that's necessarily a good thing...
