Eleanor is the new girl in town — after being sent away from her mom for months, she’s moved back in with her mom, her evil stepfather, and her step-siblings. Wearing mismatched clothes, she’s an obvious outsider that first day on the bus. Then there’s Park. Half in and half out of the crowd, he doesn’t want to persecute the new girl like all the others do. He reluctantly tells her to sit by him when she is teased by the others, and the two slowly become friends. The story of their high-school romance, Eleanor and Park will definitely draw you in.

Opinion:

I loved this book. It’s extremely relatable and cute — even though it’s set in 1986.I liked that the story was written from the perspectives of both Eleanor and Park. It rounded out the story nicely. Rowell begins the novel with an excerpt from the end of the book. It’s a sentimental passage telling about how Eleanor and Park aren’t together anymore. This leaves readers knowing as they read the book that even though things seem like they’ll turn out fine, they won’t.
