LitPick Review
Champions of Men’s Soccer is an informational book about how successful soccer players such as Pele, Maradona, Ronaldo, and Messi had to go through financial, social, and physical challenges to become professional soccer players. The book has many interesting facts such as the origin of sport, how the sport was named, ignites a debate about who is the best soccer player, and how these soccer players went from rags to riches.
Opinion:
The author draws the readers by providing interesting details in the book about various obstacles faced by various soccer players such as weather and socioeconomic conditions experienced throughout their journey to become soccer players. The book also shows in many ways that anything is possible. It inspires the readers to work hard, get creative at problem solving, and gives hope to emerge from tough life situations. The book would resonate a lot more with the readers if there were relevant pictures of various soccer players. In my opinion, all the soccer players mentioned in the book are legendary. The author’s reference of Pele as the world's best soccer player is arguable, and it would have worked best to leave it up to the readers.
