LitPick Review
Charis: Journey to Pandora's Jar is about a 12-year-old girl who is caught up in a quest to keep Pandora's Jar away from Hades. She finds out about the quest when she has a dream from Athena that she is the grace the gods have been waiting for. After that dream, Athena sends Nike to Charis to help her with the quest. Her best friend Gabe comes with her as well. Surprisingly her English teacher, Mr. P, is the God that can come to Earth in perfect human form. A couple of days after Charis had her dream, Hades sends one of the Erniey sisters, Alecto, to Earth to destroy Charis. Hades does this so that he can have the Jar for himself.
Opinion:
I thought this book was amazing! I enjoyed this book because it's similar to the book Pandora's Jar, but it is retold in a different way. For example, a 12-year-old girl was looking for Pandora's Jar. She was trying to set hope free and right the wrong that Pandora caused. I also liked this book because Charis had the help of other gods, such as Mr. P, as she undertook her quest. The book was split into sections that explained what Charis did on various days. In addition, Charis's feelings were described well. A lot of the time she thought her mission was pointless and asked herself: Why am I doing this?
It was an interesting book to read and I highly recommend it to others. Even my mom is reading it and she likes it already. I really hope this author will write a series around this book because it's one I could read over and over again.
