Once again, Acacia “Casey” and her parents are spending their annual summer vacation at Disneyland. Except this time it is a lot different. Casey usually brings her now ex best friend, Kiley. But Kiley has transformed into a completely different girl overnight, who is mean, rude, immature, and not the previous best friend whom Casey longs to share her vacation with. Casey is a sentimental and slightly awkward girl, with many an obscure Disney fact hidden inside her mind.

The town of Gypsum, Nevada is shutting down, now that the housing market has collapsed and the gypsum mine is inactive.  Ben Stanley is lucky- he has a full ride to college. His friends and family aren't as fortunate, and Ben feels guilty about leaving them to start over on their own.As a last hurrah before everyone goes their seperate ways, Ben's best friends take him to the Gypsy family parked on the side of a highway for a card reading.

Black Spring was inspired by the novel Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. Alison Croggon adds an Eastern European flavor to the setting and a fantasy twist to the classic tale of a passionate obsession. Set in the savage northern plateau in a region known as the Black Country, the story centers on the unhappy lives of Lina Kadar and a boy called Damek. Lina is the daughter of the wealthy Lord Kadar, a relation of the king. Her mother, who came from a family of powerful wizards and was cursed for marrying outside of her clan, died giving birth to Lina.

They struggle over telling the truth or remaining faithful to their promise to Miss Renshaw not to tell anyone about the mysterious cave where they last saw their teacher.

The book starts off with a boy named Adrian who hears his brother Sam screaming from in his room and remembers that his brother is being scared by the boogeyman.  He and his friends go on a search to find the boogeyman’s house. When they find it thethe house, they know they will have to come back and defeat the bogeyman. Will they succeed?  Read to find out!
