Monstrous Affections is "an anthology of beastly tales" and it's wonderful. There are a bunch of short stories written by pretty well known authors all having ideas on the definition of 'monster.' The introduction really draws you in, and each story has its own way of making you rethink who or what you've subconsciously deigned monstrous. My favorite story in the anthology is by Holly Black (author of the Spiderwick Chronicles) and is titled "Ten Rules for Being an Intergalactic Smuggler (the Successful Kind)".
