LitPick Review
Zen and the Art of Vampires is a book about Pia Thomason. She is a strong willed, big boned, 39 year old, who is on a singles tour of romantic Europe. On the first stop of the tour, Iceland, she finds herself in the middle of the a cultlike religion, The Brotherhood of the Blessed Light, whose main goal is to rid the world of the Dark Ones, known better as vampires. She falls in love with a Dark One. The Brotherhood must choose to kill or forgive her.
Opinion:
Zen and the Art of Vampire is a pretty good book but really nothing too special. Though MacAlister did use some fun language and imaginative expletives, some of the names and words that referred back to the Brotherhood made the book a little confusing at times and drew away from the mainpoint of the book. For example, the leader of the Brotherhood is called the Zorya and the author doesn't explain that until the word is used a few times.
