Laszlo is a young man who lives in France as a shepherd. But Laszlo's family members are not your ordinary shepherds, they can turn into wolves. Soon Laszlo's time will come when he can turn into a wolf too. One day when Laszlo's mother changes into a wolf, a girl named Muno sees her. A priest from a nearby village took her in as a companion, because her parents were burned at the stake because they were accused of witchcraft (by him). Muno is now under his cruel and vicious command. Muno say to Laszlo that she wouldn't tell anyone about his mother's transformation into a wolf, as long as Laszlo never tells anyone that she was out alone in the meadow against the priest's rules. They both agree to this means of trust. If the priest finds out that they are werewolves, the Laszlos family will be tortured or even killed. A long time passes and Muno doesn't tell anyone. Soon, Laszlo's time comes and he can turn into a wolf. Laszlo loves this freedom, and his senses are sharper now. But, one day when playing a ball game with some boys, he yells like a wolf and people now think he is a werewolf. Muno also is tortured, and she tells his secret. The evil priest puts them in prison, but Laszlo and his family soon escape and they take Muno with them Muno. Will Laszlo, his family, and Muno ever live in peace again?

Opinion:

This book dates back to around 1600 in France. People accused of being werewolves back then were tortured or killed, even if there was no proof that they were werewolves. In this book, everything was done secretly, and Laszlo and his family had to always be careful. The book had a fast flowing pace, in which the author gave just enough detail as needed, without making you bored. This book was also so fascinating, and I wished that I was running right next to Laszlo when he was a wolf. The author really did a great job with this book.
