Small Favor by Jim Butcher is set in modern-day Chicago. The main character is Harry Dresden, a member of the White Council of Wizards. His life starts to go downhill right at the start, when he is attacked by Gruffs sent by the Queen of Summer. He then goes on to serve Mab, Queen of Winter, in rescuing a crime lord who had been captured. With the help of his brother Thomas, his friends Michael, a Knight of the Cross, and Murphy, a Chicago police officer, and his apprentice, Molly, they track down the man's location to save him. They are constantly assaulted by the the Queen of Summer's Gruffs and fallen angels called Denarians. Will Harry save the crime lord Marcone or will he die trying? Will his friends make it out of this alive? Read Small Favor to find out.

Opinion:

Small Favor was an enthralling book. It kept me on the edge of my seat at all times. Although I haven't read any others in the series, the author does a good job of letting you know a little of the history of each character. After a slow start, it just pulled me in and I couldn't stop reading. I would suggest this book to anyone who appreciates Sci-Fi or Fantasy novels.
