Rifles for Watie is a Civil War adventure story about a boy in the Union Army who goes to spy on the Confederate Army. While among the Confederates he learns to like them a lot and realizes that they are not what he had thought.

Opinion:

This Civil War fiction is a story which brings out the simiarities between those fighting for the North and for the South during the United States Civil War.  The character development is very good which adds to the story and helps make it believable.  It also has plenty of action and suspense right up to the end. I highly recommend this book for anyone studying the Civil War and wanting to get more understanding about those who fought for eachside.
