Raven, Romda, and Ravai are back at it. The friendly town of Ashton has had many people disappear, believed to be abducted, and the king wants Raven, Romda, and Ravai to figure out what happened to them. The three of them head to Ashton to try and solve the mystery and realize something weird is going on. They go to a local tavern where they talk with locals about the mysterious disappearances. At the tavern, they meet locals as well as a man named Young Rick. Many of the locals don't seem too concerned, yet report that Ashton's mayor has been on edge since the disappearances started happening. Raven, Romda, and Ravai decide to meet with the mayor, who continues to act suspiciously. Later, Raven, Romda, and Ravai realize that Young Rick is organizing a search party to look for the missing people, which the mayor is not happy about. Will Roman, Romda, and Ravai be able to figure out what is going on? And does the Mayor or Young Rick have something to do with what is going on?

Opinion:

Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book. I liked how the author jumped right into the mystery at the very beginning of the book. The storyline started off with the King discussing what was going on in Ashton, then cut to Raven, Romda, and Ravai being recruited to help, which I liked. The story moved at a fast pace, which kept the book engaging. I enjoyed how the story was full of suspense, particularly because there were multiple characters acting suspiciously throughout the story. This made it so that I could guess who I thought was related to the missing people as I read, which was fun. While this book is part of a series, it can be read as an independent novel, and it is perfect for upper elementary or middle school readers!
