Private Peaceful is about the life of Tom Peaceful before and through his drafting into World War One. With his Mother, Molly, and his brothers Charlie and Big Joe, he has many of great adventures, until the day when the army marches through the town. He is chosen to serve in the army, and he must leave the home he knows and loves.

Opinion:

This was a book that should not be the first war book you have read, because it has many deaths and killings. It is also a good idea to know a little bit about the history of World War One first, or it may be confusing. I liked the beginning section of the book, when he is still at home, because it is much happier and more exciting. The ending was a little bit depressing, but otherwise I think this is a very good historical fiction book and a great first person account of the war.
