Tallis Challinor leads a normal teenage life until she and her brother go live with her uncle and aunt in New Hampshire. When she finds a ring at a graveyard behind her house while playing hide and seek with friends, she discovers nothing is what it seems about her uncle. When she finds out she is a chosen gatekeeper, ghosts can't leave her alone and start attacking the neighborhood, making Tallis take action to stop them. When things get out of hand, Tallis asks herself if she can she get the ghosts back through the portal and save her friends and family and the entire town. Is she strong enough to get the ghost back through the portal while they grow stronger and stronger by the day?

Opinion:

The book was wonderful from the beginning through the middle, but the end seemed rushed and the plot seemed to go in different directions.  I liked that the book was both a romance and mystery and had supernatural elements. I think they blended well together. I didn't like how the book jumped to different settings because I had a hard time keeping track of things. The book was written in so many places that it was hard to keep up with the characters and hard to figure out how they got there.
