Lucy's Grandpa Will has a green man named Lob
looking out for him him. Lucy and Grandpa Will know he
exists and they see and hear him sometimes. No one else
think Lob exists, but Lucy knows he does. Then one day
Grandpa dies, and Lucy worries where Lob will go. She really
wants to be a Lob's person but London, where she lives,
isn't earthy and green the way Lob likes it. Also, Granny
Annie sells Clunny Cottage where Grandpa Will and Granny
Annie lived. So Lucy writes a note asking to be a Lob
person, and then waits and waits for a long time while Lob
wanders the road looking for a new person to help. Only a
few people spot him along the way, some nice some mean, but
he never hangs on to one for too long. Will Lob find Lucy
and be her person or will he find someone else?

Opinion:

I liked "Lucy and the Green Man." However, it was very
hard for me to get into. Sometimes I got confused at what
was happening. Other times I couldn't get a full picture in
my mind of how things looked. A lot of the time, the author,
Linda Newberry, found ways to make even the simplest parts
intersting. When she wrote, "Dave and Mike were on their
way to the Chelsea Flower Show, with a truck packed full
of plants,"  I wondered who they were.  This made me read on
to find out.  I recommend this book to readers who like
books about magic.
