LitPick Review
In "Hurricane Mia" by Donna Marie Seim, Mia's whole summer is trashed. First, her family discovers that her mom is very sick. Next, Mia and Jack, her little brother, are sent to their grandparent's house on a little island in the Caribbean. Mia is very upset-that is, until she meets Neisha, a girl who lives on the island. Neisha tells Mia about "the tea that cures everything," and Mia wants to find it to cure her mom from her disease. But will it be enough to save Mia and Jack's mom and save them from a summer of misery?
Opinion:
In this book, I honestly found it a little hard at times to picture the setting of the book. The author's voice was more like an adult than a twelve- year-old girl, even though the book was written in third- person narration. There were a few words that I didn't understand. My overall opinion of the book was that it was okay. I might read it again; I might not. It's possible that I could recommend this book to others.
