LitPick Review
A thirteen year old boy named Jonathan goes to fight in the war against the British. He is anxious to fight in the war but little does he know that the war is not all that he thinks. Jonathan's life changes when he experiences the life of a real soldier. Jonathan realizes that being in the war is not as great as he thought when he sees what goes on, such as people suffering and dying. He experiences what it really feels like to be a person fighting for freedom.
Opinion:
This book helped me understand more about the Revolutionary War and how it feels to be a soldier fighting for freedom. I think Jonathan was a interesting character because he was brave enough to fight for what he wanted. Even though he was fighting in the war, he did not show that he was as determined as other soldiers to fight. It was kind of hard to understand at times who's side Jonathan was on. He was also not like other soldiers would be because he did not even use his gun or any weapons. He was a coward and a brave person at the same time. The other characters were better developed, except I wish I could know more about the quiet boy. The end of the book could of been better if it gave a clearer idea of which side Jonathan was on. This book would be a good book for someone who likes wars and a bit of violence.
