Demon Princess: Reign Check is the sequel to Demon Princess: Reign or Shine. The protagonist, Nikki, recently found out that she is a darkling or half demon. She finds out that she is not only half demon, but she is also a demon princess. In the second book of the series Nikki goes back to school and has to deal with the standard high school drama of friends, crushes and jealousy. On top of all of that, Nikki must deal with the fact that she is forbidden by demon law to date her shadow servant Michael even though she really wants to. Add to that the super-cute faery king just enrolled at her school to investigate whether she could fulfill a dark prophesy. Nikki sure has a lot to deal with in this fast-paced sequel.

Opinion:

Demon Princess: Reign Check by Michelle Rowen is a page turner. I did not read the first book in the series but Rowen did a great job of catching the reader up on the important events of the prequel. The characters were interesting and funny, and helped to ground the story. The plot was fast paced and constantly moved along. In spots the plot was a bit predictable and similar to other stories, but overall, Reign Check kept me very entertained. This was a great quick summer read.
