Annie lives in a land of mysterious darkness where people fear the woods and the creatures within them. Annie thought her life in this creepy darkness would never change, but one day she is forced to escape from her home and enter the woods. On her journey, Annie discovers some dangerous mysteries that she must unravel. She meets new friends and is reacquainted with old ones and in this adventurous tale Annie's strange fate is revealed.

Opinion:

When I decided to read and review the novel Darkwood, I was hoping for a story that would stimulate my imagination. But, unfortunately, I was a little bit disappointed by this some-what disjointed story-telling. While I enjoyed the main character Annie, I thought that the whole plot of the novel was underdeveloped. Events did not flow well and everything was just too sudden. The story was lacking in development and detail and ultimately it just moved too fast to be believable or enjoyable. Because the plots were so abrupt, the element of suspense was lost. I do think, however, that M.E. Breen had a wonderful idea for his novel which I would recommend for more youthful readers and not young adults.
