The main characters are Dirk Lloyd, Susan (or "Sooz"), and Chris. This story follows the life of the Dark Lord, Dirk Lloyd. It starts when Dirk falls to Earth after having lost the battle against Hasdruban. Now trapped in the body of a 12-year old boy, the Dark Lord begins to search for a way to get back to the Darklands. Except for one problem. No one believes that he is the Dark Lord. Everyone has come to believe that he instead is a boy with serious psychological problems. With the help of his new friends, Sooz and Chris, he can only hope that they can help him open the portal to get back home.

Opinion:

I loved this book! I couldn't put it down. What I liked about the book were the very distinct characters. I liked how they each had a very different personality and each had a different point of view on any subject. I also liked that even though they were different, they were very close friends. What I didn't like about the story was the confusion Dirk had with his own identity.
