LitPick Review
In the book, Choir of Angels, Seal of Knowledge, Gabe, an ordinary orphan, finds that the existence of angels is, in fact, real. He learns unexpected secrets of his identity, and of his parents' deaths. As if that isn't enough, his girlfriend, who happens to be named Angel, is kidnapped by an evil force no police force can handle. Now he must save her, with the help of new friends, of course. The fate of more than Gabe knows lies in his hands.
Opinion:
This book did give me the sense of experiencing the story firsthand. I could definitely see the images in my mind. The characters were quite humorous, but when I first met Sister Evangeline, I saw her as a good-willed perfect nun, but later, her personality changed in an unexpected way when she told Gabe she was not really a nun. Gabe and Angel were a great couple though, and I loved the way they interacted with each other. I think the book could have used more detail. I'm use to a higher level of reading, so it was kind of boring to be directly told everything that was happening. For example, when Pat and Vance turned into the demonic creatures, it was simply stated that they turned into large dogs and ran off. I felt that there needed to be more, like the story was going too fast. I thought that the strong vocabulary didn't fit in quite naturally with the rest of the book. The author did a good job of creating a sense of mystery, and I would definitely recommend this for those who enjoy paranormal-type genres.
