LitPick Review
Ameca J and the Legacy of Menindus is about Ameca, her little sister Fraya, and their father Paul. They find themselves traveling to the city of Mythrania in another world and don't know how to get back. There, they discover they are part of a legend that must be fulfilled before they can return home. They learn that The Spirit, the ruler of all that is good, sent for them to defeat Scelestus, the ruler of the dark world and save the universe. The legend tells them that they are heirs of Menindus, known as Merlin in our world. In this world, hair color other than black means magical ability. According to the legend, Ameca, who is red-haired, is the Flame; Fraya, who is blonde, is the Flower; and Paul, whose hair is silver; is the One. They meet the silver-haired High Magi named Gravellux who helps them learn how to use their powers. Some unfortunate things happen at war and in the Temple on the way to Scelestus. Can they defeat Scelestus? Will they all survive? Will they get back home?
Opinion:
Ameca J and the Legacy of Menindus is a very good book. It has a surprising twist at the end. It kept me turning pages to see if Scelestus will be defeated. It was a sad book, though. That family had been through a lot since they arrived in Mythrania. They had to accept some things and believe in others. I had a lot of fun reading this book. The plot was very well thought out and moved at a great pace. I liked all the "good guy" characters and all the characters were realistic. I recommend this book to people who like magic, action, and adventure.
