The book The Afterlife Academy, by Frank L. Cole, is about a boy, Walter Prairie, who is killed by lightning and sent to a place called Afterlife Academy. The souls of the dead go there. After scoring unusually well on a placement test, he is sent out as a Guardian Angel, assigned to protect Charlie Dewdle, an unpopular kid who is paranormally obsessed. Charlie has managed to get a book that can open a Gateway that will allow demons to have easy access to Earth.
Walter and Charlie have to keep the book away from demons, while trying to figure out important things like how to stand up to bullies, not be suspicious in your parents’ eyes, and how to even be a Guardian Angel in the first place.
Opinion:
Afterlife Academy was a good book, and I recommend it to most people. My favorite character is Walter because of his vivid personality and because he is just plain cool. I think it was a great story, but I feel like the author could have added more details on some of the minor characters and a bit more about what happened to Walter before he died.
All in all, it was a good book with the right amount of suspense, plot twists, and action. I liked Afterlife Academy because of the good story, good descriptions, and great characters. It was a vibrant book. I really think you should read it.
