Loraine (Rain) Merriwether is staying with her father for the summer just like usual. At least it seems like a usual summer until she meets Harold Godwin,a vampire who is originally from the medieval time period. He preys on humans by controlling their mind but Rain is not affected at all. This is seen as a threat to vampires. When a vampire finds out that a human is not vulnerable to his powers, the human must be killed immediately. But Harold loves Rain too much and wants to protect her. If Rain is bitten three times by a vampire she turns into one. Rain does not like the idea because she finds what the vampires do very gross, but she wants to stay with Harold. When Deborah, the vampire in charge of all other vampires in the US, finds out about Rain, she orders Rain dead. So now Loraine must choose; the life of a vampire or death.

Opinion:

This is a fantasy novel with a twist of romance. I gave this novel a two for quite a few reasons. I felt that you never got to know the characters at all really except for Harold. At the end of the novel, I still had several questions about the characters. I also thought this book was very confusing. It was very fast paced so I had trouble understanding what was going on. At many points in the book I was thinking to myself, "wait, what just happened? How is that related? Did I miss something?" I always felt like I was a chapter behind the book. I can honestly say I would not recommend this book to anybody I know.
