Maddy and Grace are very excited when their parents take them to visit the racetrack. They are enjoying looking at the many types of racehorses when they decide to go buy some snacks and drinks. Maddy and Grace meet a big workhorse, and they ask him how he got his job. He tells them that he wanted to be a racehorse but was forced to be a workhorse since he is big and strong. He offers them a ride, and once they climb on, they start racing toward the racetrack. They run faster and faster, and eventually start to catch up to the other horses on the racetrack! Maddy and Grace know that if the big horse can win the race, he will be able to become an official racehorse! But will Maddy and Grace be able to lead the horse to victory?

Opinion:

Overall, I really enjoyed reading this picture book. The first thing I liked was how the author chose the setting of a racetrack. I had never read a book that took place on a racetrack, and I liked how the author explained the scene well by describing the horses, people, and activities there! Additionally, the plot of the story was creative, and I liked how the author added the magical element of the horses talking to Maddy and Grace. All the other aspects of the story were realistic, so this made the story more exciting and helped me relate to the big horse. I also liked the colorful illustrations in this book as they helped me visualize the scenes at the racetrack and see the excitement in the crowd as Maddy and Grace are racing the horse. Lastly, I really liked how the author was able to show readers the lesson of following your dreams, and how they will come true if you work towards them! This is an awesome picture book for young children!
