Tea and Dark Chocolate is a book of whimsical children's stories. Mostly, these stories are narrated by cats, and we see the thoughts of these ferocious felines.

Occasionally, there are humorous stories, such as Doris - a story about two spoiled dogs and a robot, or The Reindeer Games, in which all the reindeer must fight to see who will pull Santa's sleigh. Cecilia's Tale is a cat's thoughts on growing up, leaving home, and finding and taming a human. The second tale of Cecilia is when she meets... drumroll, please... snow - a new and terrifying element! It's time to curl up in her human's blankets for the duration of the power outage.

Additionally, the author knows much about Jewish traditions. Her bio says that she lived in Jerusalem for a time.

Opinion:

The overall book was not terrible, but I did not find it exciting. There was one—The Reindeer Games—that had me rolling on the floor laughing.

I think of these as good stories for a small child, though there were some jokes and stuff that small children might not understand. I would recommend it for younger children, except for the fact that there are some questionable words in it. These stories could be perfect read-alouds if the parents filter out those words as they read.

I found the writing somewhat interesting in places because the author is from a different country and her writing style is different from what I usually read.

Explain your content rating:

There were some words, like d***, h***, and c*** that I felt were a little on the older kids side, but other than that I found it to be fine.
