Profile Picture

This book is a collection of stories about special animals whose bravery saved lives. One story that is particularly interesting is about Daisy, a Labrador Retriever, who was being trained by Dr. Guest to detect cancer in humans. Dr. Guest was experimenting on special dogs to see if they could detect cancer. In the middle of her training, Daisy detects cancer in Dr. Guest. Not only did this save Dr. Guest’s life by warning her to get the treatment as soon as possible, but it also confirmed to Dr. Guest that training a dog to detect cancer is possible.

In the book, Daisy to the Rescue, four categories of stories about life-saving animals are reviewed: stories about pets, trained animal helpers, wild animals, and legendary animals. Each category has many stories about animals (including dogs, horses, dolphins, etc.) rescuing humans. Not all the stories are classic tales of dogs fighting off people, or other animals to saving their owners.  This unique book has excerpts about miraculous physical and mental feats performed by a variety of creatures: pigs, horses, and parrots (to name a few).
