Old habits die hard for assassins. This is especially true in the book Spider's Revenge by Jennifer Estep This book showcases the life of the famous Ashland assassin the Spider. The Spider, otherwise known as Gin Blanco, is like any other assassin. She gets paid to do jobs involving killing someone. But there's something much more important. Her main goal is to get rid of her number one enemy, Mab, the one who killed her mother and her sister. And now Spider's out for revenge (thus the title).

Opinion:

Now let's get one thing out of the way. Spider's Revenge does have a little bit of romance to it. But I don't think it would be fair to judge it so harshly, just because I'm not a big fan of romance. So even though this book does have some in it, it makes up for it with edge of your seat action. It does have its slow areas but nothing too extreme. I enjoyed this book. It has a very interesting story along with detailed, and sometimes gory, fighting sequences. For example, "the projectile stopped there, quivering from the force of its violent journey, blood and brain matter sluicing off it like water" (15). Along with that it had some clever dialogue that actually made me chuckle. For instance, The Spider's response to someone saying her sister was on a violent streak was, "Must run in the family" (72). This book truly creates an emotional tie to each of the characters through the thoughts and feelings of the main character, which gives the book a deeper and more emotional feel to it.This book is very interesting. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who's looking for an exciting action book with clever characters and a little touch of romance. However this book should be read by older teens and adults.
