When Birdie goes to visit her grandmother for the first time, she is not sure what to expect. When she arrives, she is stunned by the beautiful gardens, the butterfly meadow and the huge maze built of boxwood shrubs. She thinks nothing can become any better until she learns her family's secret. She is a fairy godmother. She needs to go on a mission through an enchanted forest, Aventurine to save the magical glimmer tree.If she fails her quest, her family's bond will slowly break apart and a part of Aventurine will be lost. Birdie sets off on a mission filled with hope, friendship, wonder and awe.
Opinion:
The book Birdies Book has an interesting plot but is not very unique. It is the run of the mill fairy book for younger kids. As a teenager, this book was boring and childish, however a second or third grader may enjoy it. One great component of this book was the detail. I could picture myself in the settings, which I enjoy. The ending of the book was far-fetched. It was the expected ending. I would recommend this book to younger kids interested in fairies and plants.
