The novel Josef Jaeger, by Jere' M. Fishback, is about an adolescent homosexual Nazi during the years while Adolf Hitler was becoming the head of Germany. In the beginning of this story, Josef, the main character, mother dies. Josef, being a child made out of wedlock, and never knowing his father, is sent to live with his openly homosexual Nazi uncle in Munich, Germany. His uncle has a very hot temper and is quick to judge every move made by Hitler, leaving him in some hot lava with his fellow Nazis. While all this is going on, Josef is casted to play a role in a Nazi propaganda movie in Berlin where he falls in love with a Jewish boy named David. All this and much more happens in the novel Josef Jaeger by Jere' M. Fishback.

Opinion:

Josef Jaeger by Jere' M. Fishback is one of the few books that talks openly about homosexuality during World War II. This is one of the few view points of the Nazis that is often forgotten to be told about and therefore makes this book very good. This book's writing helps portray the feeling that young Josef could have very well thought about if this was really a young boy of that era. One of the only problems of this book is the extra describing of the scenes that Josef was experiencing. This is more evident in the beginning of the book then in the end. Because this book explains a story that is not often heard about World War II, this book was very informative. Though this book was a little wordy, it was one of the most interesting books I have encountered.

Explain your content rating:

This book goes into the hairy details of certain sexual subjects that aren't appropriate for young readers. Also, there are some very gory scenes that are described that also could leave a negative impact on young readers.
