LitPick Review
The title of this book may be a bit misleading. Winning Ugly discusses the mental attitudes behind the game of tennis, as well as many other sports. Brad Gilbert, the former coach of tennis star Andre Agassi and Andy Roddick , through his own personal experience related the psychology behind the game of tennis and how to use this mental attitude toward your advantage.
Opinion:
As a tennis player in high school, I found this book very insightful and appropriate. The inner mental game, as it is often called in sports, can work both to your disadvantage and advantage not just in competitve sports but in individual sports too. Brad Gilbert presents his theories and techniques, along with interesting anecdotes from when he played competitve tennis against the best players in the world. I found this book very easy to read and filled with a lot of information that can help any athlete in their sport. In fact, there are some life lessons in this book too.
