LitPick Review
The evacuation of Jews from Nazi-held Denmark is one of the great untold stories of World War II. On September 29, 1943, word got out in Denmark that Jews were to be detained and then sent to the death camps. Within hours the Danish resistance alerts the people of Denmark who do something amazing in the face of the Nazi threat.
Opinion:
Once again, Lois Lowery delivers a powerful story with a message of defiance and hope. I highly recommend this book to all students and adults because we should never forget the atrocities committed by Germany and its allies during WW II and always remember the brave people who were willing to stand up and fight for the rights of others. This story is the story of good against evil and should encourage us to continue to fight against genocide today.
