LitPick Review
Mudd lives in a quiet little town and works at a mill. He lives with the town's blind prophesier, Shemnara, and his dad and sister. Mudd is fixing one of the gears in the mill when it catches on fire. A red dragon came out, swooping in the sky, lighting everything ablaze. Mudd, his dad and sister are in the process of driving the dragon away when the dragon turns and flies away of her own free will. Mudd gets a bad feeling, and runs back to his house and finds Shemnara is gone and the house is a mess; things are broken and scattered across the floor. There is a tiny note left for Mudd from Shemnara telling him to find a mystical pendant; it is the only way he can get her back.
Opinion:
I didn't enjoy this book as much as I thought I would. The conflicts were few and shallow; they didn'yave much to do with the story. However, this would be a good book for new readers. The language isn't very difficult, and the plot is easy to follow. Most of the characters seemed to be shifting and occasionally, they would do something unnatural for their character. I would recommend this book to a lower age and a lower reading level.
